Helcim Raises $53 Million in Series C to Expand Small–Business Payments Platform

Helcim, the Calgary–based payments company says the new capital will strengthen its technology, integrations and customer support as it expands its reach across Canada and the United States.

Calgary–based payments company Helcim has closed a $53 million CAD Series C financing round, giving the company additional capital to expand its payments platform and deepen its focus on small and mid–sized businesses. The round was led by BDC Capital’s Growth Venture Fund, with new investment from Curql Collective and Gold House Ventures, alongside continued backing from existing investors.

The financing brings Helcim’s total equity raised since its 2022 Series A to approximately $100 million. According to the company’s financing announcement, its valuation has reached $250 million, compared with $97 million at the time of its 2024 Series B.

The fundraising follows a period of significant growth. Helcim says it now serves more than 22,000 active merchants in Canada and the United States, has surpassed $150 million in annual recurring revenue, and is on pace to process nearly $10 billion in payments this year. The company has also grown to roughly 200 employees.

A major focus for the new capital will be Helcim’s effort to make its payment services available within the software and workflows businesses already use. The company calls this strategy “Helcim Everywhere.” Its Payment Extension, launched earlier in 2026, is designed to allow merchants to continue using their existing business software while choosing Helcim as their payment processor rather than being restricted to a processor built into that software.

Helcim also plans to continue investing in its core products, including point–of–sale tools, invoicing, online checkout and payment hardware. The company says it is developing additional ways for businesses to receive payments, pay vendors and manage everyday financial activities through its platform.

The financing arrives as Canada’s merchant–services market undergoes broader changes. Helcim and other industry observers point to the sale or outsourcing of merchant–services operations by several major Canadian banks as an opening for independent payment providers serving small and mid–sized businesses.

For Helcim, the next stage is therefore not simply about adding customers. The company is positioning its platform as an alternative for businesses seeking transparent pricing, flexible integrations and direct customer support. Founder and CEO Nic Beique said the company intends to use the additional resources to expand its platform while maintaining those priorities.
