Emily Turner Appointed HSBC Innovation Banking UK CEO

Emily Turner, a seasoned Citi executive, has been named the new CEO of HSBC Innovation Banking UK, effective February 2025. She will take over from Erin Platts, who transitions to CEO of Octopus Ventures while continuing as a special advisor to HSBC.

Turner brings over 13 years of expertise from Citi, where she spearheaded business development and institutional strategic investing. Her appointment underscores HSBC’s commitment to driving innovation in financial services, particularly through its Innovation Banking unit, established after acquiring Silicon Valley Bank UK in 2023.

Emily commented: “I’m excited to be joining HSBC Innovation Banking at this crucial juncture in its growth journey. HSBC Innovation Banking has quickly established itself as a go-to partner for the innovation ecosystem with a track record of supporting founders, companies and investors at all life stages. I look forward to working with the team to take it to the next level.”

The division continues to focus on supporting technology and life sciences companies, with recent initiatives including a €40 million financing facility for Danish fintech Pleo, aimed at expanding credit capacities.
