Lloyds Bank Launches “Link Pay” Feature for Easy, Secure Money Requests

Lloyds Bank

Lloyds Bank has introduced an innovative feature, Link Pay, within its mobile banking app, enabling customers to request money from friends and family quickly, easily, and securely. The new feature is designed to simplify repayments for shared expenses, such as restaurant bills or group gifts, eliminating the need to share account details.

With Link Pay, Lloyds customers can generate a unique link or QR code directly from the app. This personalized link can be sent via WhatsApp, SMS, or Facebook Messenger, allowing users to request a specific amount and include a customized reference, such as “dinner last week” or “present for Dad.” The feature leverages open banking, allowing recipients to make payments without needing to set up a new payee.

Gabby Collins, Payments Director at Lloyds, highlighted the feature’s convenience: “We want our customers to have simple, secure ways to move money at their fingertips. Our new Link Pay feature helps them do just that. No need to dig out a sort code and account number—just add the amount and what it’s for, and we’ll handle the rest. It’s never been simpler to get your sibling to repay you for Dad’s birthday gift.”

This feature not only enhances user convenience but also strengthens payment security, aligning with Lloyds’ commitment to providing seamless digital banking solutions.
