International Development Bank Expands Partnership with IFI to Strengthen Compliance and Financial Integrity in Iraq’s Banking Sector

International Development Bank (IDB) has deepened its collaboration with the Institute for Financial Integrity (IFI) to reinforce compliance, transparency, and governance across Iraq’s financial sector. The expanded partnership builds on IDB’s enterprise-wide adoption of IFI’s Financial Integrity and Cross-Border Payments Training Program, now enhanced with a custom executive training initiative tailored for the bank’s senior leadership.

Developed jointly with the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) and K2 Integrity, the program underscores IDB’s commitment to international compliance standards and responsible banking practices. Key objectives include strengthening IDB’s institutional capacity to mitigate illicit finance risks, supporting the CBI’s alignment with global AML/CFT standards, and establishing a sustainable compliance framework grounded in international best practices.

Dany Nassar, Chief Compliance Officer at IDB, emphasized that the initiative reflects both regulatory requirements and international benchmarks:

“IFI’s training ensures our staff remain aligned with global and local compliance standards, enhancing their ability to detect, assess, and mitigate financial crime risks effectively. This program reinforces our commitment to integrity, transparency, and sound governance in Iraq’s evolving financial landscape.”

Complementing the core training, the executive-level program will deliver in-person compliance sessions for IDB’s Board of Directors and Senior Management, ensuring leadership is fully equipped to guide the bank’s strategic compliance direction.

Grant Kreft, CEO of the Institute for Financial Integrity, stated:

“By investing in both frontline employees and leadership, IDB is setting a benchmark for responsible banking and strengthening the financial integrity of Iraq’s banking sector.”

The initiative highlights Iraq’s growing momentum toward financial modernization and positions IDB as a regional leader in transparent and responsible banking practices.
