Citizens’ customers can now easily access their financial data through their favorite apps, from budgeting software to accounting platforms to other applications. With the new Citizens Open Banking API, or Application Programming Interface, clients can view their bank account balances, transactions and more within their preferred external systems.
The API is built to the Financial Data Exchange (FDX) standards and gives customers seamless visibility into their data. Wherever clients spend their time reviewing financial information, they now have access to a proprietary and secure way to view their Citizens’ account(s).

Built to support Citizens’ retail, business, commercial, wealth and private banking clients, this capability enables better financial planning, budgeting and increased access to personalized financial products. Clients benefit from secure and efficient data transfer as a result of the coordination between the bank and external platforms.
The design of the Open Banking API also enables Citizens to expedite the release of new features that rapidly integrate with connected platforms, fintechs and data aggregators.
The initiative provides Citizen’s customers with high-quality data exactly where and when they need it. This approach eliminates the risks associated with outdated methods such as screen scraping. In turn, it ensures that customers can access their financial information safely and efficiently.
