Citi and Google Cloud Partner to Accelerate Digital Transformation with AI and Cloud Solutions

Citi

Citi has entered a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to advance its digital transformation using cutting-edge cloud technology and artificial intelligence (AI). This strategic collaboration aims to modernize Citi’s technology infrastructure, enhancing both employee and client experiences through cloud-based applications.

As part of this agreement, Citi will migrate multiple workloads and applications to Google Cloud’s secure, scalable infrastructure. By leveraging Google Cloud’s high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities, Citi’s Markets business will be able to execute millions of computations daily. This modernization will enable Citi to streamline workflows, improve digital products, and optimize analytics platforms.

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, Citi will also adopt Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform to introduce generative AI capabilities across the company. These AI-powered initiatives will support developer tools, document processing, and digitization, further empowering Citi’s customer servicing teams.

“Citi is on a mission to modernize our infrastructure and increase our safety and soundness so that our businesses can continue to serve our clients with speed and agility,” said Tim Ryan, Head of Technology and Business Enablement at Citi. “Leveraging Google Cloud opens up a whole new frontier for us in running applications with faster outputs and equipping our colleagues with the tools they need to deliver for our clients.”

Thomas Kurian, Google Cloud CEO, commented on the partnership: “Our collaboration with Citi to modernize its technology infrastructure and drive enterprise-wide innovation reflects Google Cloud’s commitment to helping the financial services industry transform with cloud and AI technology. Combining Citi’s expertise in banking and customer experience with Google Cloud’s advanced capabilities allows us to deliver significant benefits to Citi’s clients and employees.”

Google Cloud’s infrastructure provides the security and compliance required by financial institutions, meeting stringent regulatory standards with layers of security, including data encryption in transit, at rest, and in use. Its compliance certifications, including PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and SOC 2, further ensure robust protection of sensitive data.
