The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has announced key leadership changes, including a new Secretary General and leadership for its Innovation Hub.
Véronique Sani will assume the role of Secretary General on December 1st, 2024. Sani brings extensive experience in financial services, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer of Natixis. She will lead the General Secretariat and contribute to the overall management of the BIS.
Monica Ellis, the outgoing Secretary General, is credited with driving forward the Innovation BIS 2025 strategy during her tenure. The BIS Board expressed its gratitude for her leadership.
The BIS Innovation Hub will also see new leadership with the appointments of Karmela Holtgreve and Miguel Díaz as Deputy Heads. Holtgreve, currently with the Deutsche Bundesbank, will oversee operations, while Díaz, who leads the Hub’s Toronto Centre, will focus on strategy. Díaz’s predecessor, Ross Leckow, will depart the BIS in August.
These appointments position the BIS for continued innovation and collaboration within the global financial system. Sani’s experience and Holtgreve and Díaz’s expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of the organization.
