Equifax and Mastercard have announced a strategic collaboration to empower financial institutions, payment service providers, acquiring banks, and merchants across Latin America to effectively tackle payment fraud, while maintaining a seamless customer experience.
The partnership integrates Mastercard’s fraud management tools—including Mastercard Identity, Ethoca Alerts, and Ethoca Consumer Clarity—with Equifax’s Kount Payment Fraud solution, offering businesses enhanced fraud prevention capabilities. These combined solutions provide comprehensive protection across the digital payments landscape, with identity verification, fraud risk assessment, order validation, and chargeback prevention.
Latin America has one of the highest payment fraud rates globally, with merchants losing over 4.6% of their e-commerce revenue to fraud. As the region’s e-commerce sector is set to nearly double from $85 billion in 2021 to $160 billion in the coming year, Equifax and Mastercard’s partnership aims to help businesses mitigate fraud in real-time, enabling them to unlock growth potential.
The Kount Payment Fraud solution, which serves over 20,000 businesses across more than 40 countries, is renowned for its real-time fraud prevention during transactions. Chris Jones, President of Equifax Latin America, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting, “This strategic alignment will provide safer payment transactions, reduce chargebacks, and ultimately support businesses in improving their profitability.”
Ana Lucia Magliano, Executive Vice President of Services at Mastercard Latin America and the Caribbean, added, “This collaboration is a vital step in our shared mission to make the digital economy safer and more seamless for payment providers and merchants in the region.”
