Commercial Bank of Dubai Sets New Benchmark as UAE’s First Bank to Fully Activate Open Finance for Customers

Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) announced that it has become the first bank in the United Arab Emirates to fully activate Open Finance for customers under the Central Bank of the UAE’s Open Finance Initiative, AlTareq. The live activation enables customers with current and savings accounts to securely share financial data and initiate payments through regulated, consent-based frameworks. This activation was achieved in collaboration with Central Bank–licensed third-party providers, including Pay10 and Lean Technologies, who are now operational under the UAE’s Open Finance infrastructure operator, Nebras. CBD’s full-scale implementation moves Open Finance beyond controlled pilot phases into nationwide live operation, supporting broader market adoption and enhanced connectivity among financial service providers.

CBD says this milestone reflects its commitment to creating a more connected financial ecosystem, giving customers greater control over their financial interactions and supporting digital-first banking experiences in line with the UAE’s strategic vision.
