Liberty Tax and Digital Commerce Bank (DCBank) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at transforming how Canadians access their tax refunds and financial services.
Set to launch in time for the 2025 tax season, the collaboration will enable Liberty Tax clients to receive tax refunds and other services directly onto digital or physical Mastercard cards and through Interac e-Transfer. This eliminates cheque cashing fees, provides instant access to funds, and facilitates online and in-store purchases at merchants worldwide.
To enhance the client experience, DCBank is developing a mobile app that will allow users to manage their tax refunds, card transactions, and Interac e-Transfer payments seamlessly.
Scott Terrell, CEO of Liberty Tax, highlighted the convenience of this partnership:
“The ability to have tax refunds instantly loaded to a digital bank card synced with Apple Wallet® or Google Wallet® will be invaluable for clients who need fast access to their money. This partnership elevates our ability to serve every Liberty Tax customer efficiently.”
Jeffrey Smith, CEO of DCBank, emphasized the broader financial implications, stating:
“Partnering with Liberty Tax, a trusted name with over 25 years in the tax industry, is an excellent fit for our clients. The services we’re offering, from bank cards to Interac e-Transfer, extend advantages far beyond tax season, particularly for clients without an existing Mastercard or bank account.”
This initiative underscores both organizations’ commitment to enhancing financial accessibility and convenience for Canadians. With Liberty Tax’s established nationwide presence and DCBank’s innovative payment solutions, the partnership aims to redefine tax refund experiences while empowering clients with modern financial tools.
